reforestation, environmental education\nand waste reduction initiatives our Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE) plant follows the principles of Industry 4.0. A pioneer in operations in the region, Ach\u00e9 launched its Environmental Education Program in 2022, which is aimed at teachers, students, and the managers of municipal schools in the Cabo de Santo Agostinho region, which has an impact on more than 1,000 local students with its educational activities.<\/p><p>One of the first results of this initiative was the <strong>replanting of 7,500 seedlings of tree species that\nare native to the Atlantic Forest biome in the  Zumbi<\/strong> (port region of Suape). The reforestation\nproject, which started in 2020, was designed to\ncarry out the environmental compensation of 4.47\nhectares of the region. As a result it has helped\nre-establish the balance of the local ecosystem,\nwith recovery of the degraded area, a reduction in\nthe greenhouse effect and a re-balancing of the\nenvironment.<\/p><p>Another initiative, also in Pernambuco, is the leasing of pallets with the aim of reducing the cost of purchasing this material and, with it, reducing the environmental impacts caused by the consumption of wood. <strong>As a result, the partnership preserves approximately 780 trees per month, with an\nestimated reduction of 324 tons in CO2  emissions<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/strong><\/p><p>We have also developed a process to ensure the reuse of pallets in non-ideal conditions for internal use in the factory. Given this scenario, the unit introduced improvement projects in the air conditioning system, which represented a 1.9% reduction in electricity consumption in 2022. In relation to total energy consumed (GJ) in the\nCompany\u2019s five plants, there was a 10%\nincrease relative to the previous year due\nto the start of Phase II operations (the\nmanufacture of solids) in the Pernambuco\nunit and expansion of the production area\n(microdosing) in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p><p>Because of the practices and the results\nobtained in Guarulhos, the For\nthis reason we have expanded the circular\neconomy concept in the different stages of\nour operation, thus mitigating the impact of\nour use and disposal of materials. This practice\nprioritizes the best use of raw materials, by\nincreasing reuse and recycling waste.<\/p><p>In managing our waste we follow the\nrelevant current environmental legislation\nand the principles of the Company\u2019s IMS\nPolicy. The initiatives include the storage\nof hazardous waste with access control;\nwaste packaging with identification;\ndocuments and records for controlling\ntraceability to the final destination;\nadequate transportation with verification\nof the necessary documentation; and a\nfinal disposal process with a certificate,\nincluding proof of the destruction of\ncontrolled products. Water consumption is monitored by way of indicators, which are based on the reading of hydrometers, invoices, spreadsheets and the monthly control of our building facilities, whose management is based on the IMS Policy.<\/p><p>The waste water generated in the production\nprocess is discarded in an Effluent Treatment\nPlant. We follow the principles and standards of\ndisposal established in Decree No. 8,468\/1976,\nof the State of S\u00e3o Paulo and in Conama\nResolution No. 430. With regard to the profile\nof the water bodies that receive the treated\neffluent, in the Ach\u00e9 Guarulhos unit it is disposed of in the Cubas Stream and the Tiet\u00ea River, while in all other plants the effluent is discharged into the sewage collection network.\u00a0<\/p><p>The increase in water consumption in 2022 is a\nreflection of the increase in production, the start\nof pPhase II operations (manufacture of solids)\nat the Pernambuco unit and expansion of the\nproduction area (microdosing) in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
